Average of a set

Everyone help on this one. I am stumped as to why this is the case.

Find the average of the below set.

(3,5,7,9,............303,305)

I would think that you would find this in the following manor.

305+3=308 then divide 308/2 = 154?????

My book has it solved in the following and I am thinking it is a typo?

305+5=310 ---- 310/2=155

Which is correct? This is driving me CRAZY!!!

Big day tomorrow, everyone wish me LUCK!

THANKS!!!

IMO should be 154. i.e. (305+3)/2

Good Luck for your exam..
