Well, I fell short of my 700+ goal, but I think I'm pleased enough with the score to move on with my life.

Before starting my studies I took the first GMAT Prep test and scored a 650, so I was a bit disappointed when after studying for a month and a half and scoring a 640 on the real test. I almost threw up in the bathroom at the testing center before taking the test. My nerves certainly negatively impacted my actual test scores.
I took a month break and then studied for another month (10-12 hrs/wk) and scored a 660. An improvement, but still disappointing (I knew my practice scores were inflated because of retakes, but 660 was too low).
I then took another month break and studied for a few more weeks before taking it my 3rd and last time. 690. I do feel that I'm closer to a 700-710, but given my past experiences, I'm sufficiently satisfied with my score to move on. This test has definitely sucked some years out of my life.
Moral of the story ... don't give up. You can improve your score (although I wasn't as fortunate as those who have improved by 100+ points).
640 - 660 - 690
