"As a result of" Idiom

"As a result of" Idiom

Is it incorrect to use "as a result of" , in the sentence ?
For example ,
The utility of the chemical was determined as a result of survey.

'as a result of' is considered wordy

On GMAT following phrases are considered wordy
A/the fact
a result

That is the only ones I can remember.

Are you saying that "as a result of" and "the fact" are almost always wrong on GMAT as being is?

determined by is the correct idiom.

"determined by" is also preferred
