The Supreme Court's concern with legitimacy is not for the sake of the court but the nation to which it is responsible.

(A) but the nation to which it is responsible
(B) but for the sake of the nation to which it is responsible
(C) so much as the nation it is responsible to
(D) as the nation it is responsible to
(E) but the nation

what does 'it' refers here? OA B

'it' refers to supreme court

so my take would be B

btw, 'it' refers to 'The Supreme Court' not 'The Supreme Court's concern'

This one is easy. Just look out for Parallels and then eliminate. In fact this one is directly testing parallism and has only one option that meets the requirement

You need to be aware of structures that require parallism. Some of them are
Not only X but also Y
Either X or Y.
distinguish between X and Y.

In such cases the X and Y have to be parallel

U could refer to the Manhattan SC book for more such structure which require parallelism. Learning the same will help you in your prep

IMO B
as to achieve parallelism, the format of the sentence should be
Not for X but for Y
X = the sake of the court
Y = the sake of the nation

... to which it is responsible ( noun = court, pronoun = it as nation is 'too close'? )
