3. Legislation in the Canadian province of Ontario requires of both public and private employers that pay be the same for jobs historically held by women as for jobs requiring comparable skill that are usually held by men.

(A) that pay be the same for jobs historically held by women as for jobs requiring comparable skill that are
(B) that pay for jobs historically held by women should be the same as for a job requiring comparable skills
(C) to pay the same in jobs historically held by women as in jobs of comparable skill that are
(D) to pay the same regardless of whether a job was historically held by women or is one demanding comparable skills
(E) to pay as much for jobs historically held by women as for a job demanding comparable skills

My answer was D but OA is A..can you help me find out problems in the other statements other than OA.

I chose C but C is wrong bcos of "to pay the same in jobs"
D is wrong bcos of parallelism whether X or Y .....X and Y should be parallel
A is correct it uses subjunctive mood

How much time did it take to solve this ? In hurry to finish it in time....I selected the wrong ans...and chose C....How should I do these within 1 min 15 sec ?

A)CORRECT (Usage of subjunctive appropriate here - require is a reporting verb)
B)JOBS compared with JOB (incorrect comparison)
C)Unidiomatic - to pay the same in is incorrect (same for is the correct usage)
d)change of meaning
e)JOBS vs JOB
Success = Max(Hardwork) + Min(Luck)

Tricky one!! I also went for C/D/E for having "to pay"
After knowing OA is A, and on further reading, A makes sense.
Thanks for the question! (Moral - Read the complete sentence, before going for elimination :D)

As per MGMAT the CORRECT usage is

She Requires of her friend THAT work BE done(Subj)

i.e. the correct idiom is

REQUIRE THAT X BE Y

1. Subjunctive : Thus immidiate possible choices are A and B
2. Comparison between JOBS and JOB...(Good Explanation)

I fell for B as I missed the 2nd one.

Great question.
