(A) a way to protect
(B) in efforts to protect
(C) protecting
(D) to protect in one way
(E) in order to protect

As per Manhattan, if we have to express the result of a previous clause in the subsequent clause use "ing" form of the verb, but if the subsequent clause shows the motive/intention use infinitive form of the verb.

Isn't E better than C here.

TO or IN ORDER TO should not come after a comma. Its always wrong.

TO should not come after a comma. Mostly we use TO instead of IN ORDER TO.

I read this TO logic somewhere (I think in MGMAT). Its in my flashcards. Thats all I remember now.
