Fossils found recently in Pakistan provide evidence supporting the theory of land mammals returning to the water that later evolved into modern whales.

A. supporting the theory of land mammals returning to the water that later

B. supporting the theory that land mammals, after returning to the water,

C. that supports the theory of land mammals that returned to the water and that later

D. in support of the theory that land mammals returned to the water and that they later

E. of support for the theory of land mammals that returned to the water and after

I managed to narrow it down to B and D and was stuck after that.. some help pls..

tough sentence to me though i managed to pick right answer, mu reasoning
A)water that later seems like water evolved in modern whales
C)no clear reasons i don`t like too many that in the sentence, the same pronoun must refer to the same antecedent
but first that refers to the evidence, second to the ammals and the third to the something evidence or mammals ( but i am not sure in this concept)
D) they is wrong here . seems like the mammals returned to the water ans the same mammals evolved into the whales, but evolution is a long process, and life of 1 mammal is not enough to become whale
E)evidence of support to me is not best usage, and again too many that

Also, D is too wordy...we need to look for an option which has brevity too...
