Just the interior diagonal whose ends are one diameter apart. So, the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed by the height of the cylinder and the diameter of same.

Both are 8 so square root of 8^2 + 8^2 = 128^(1/2)

It might be easiest to see it. We want the red line, which is the hypotenuse of a 45-45-90 right triangle, each of whose legs is 8:
