well I hate to say this but "slim" because even tough your overall package is the most important thing, UCLA tends to choose the student body from a high GPA &GMAT pool.

80 % of the GMAT scores fall between 630 and 740. And keep in mind that the mean GMAT is 700!

What is your ethnicity?

Are you an underrepresented minority?

Because if you are that is the only chance you have with that score.

Let's put it this way: last year I applied with a score of 570. I am a non-underrepresented minority.

I spoke directly with Dylan Stafford who is the head of the admissions for FEMBA. FEMBA gives you feedback after the acceptance declaration date on the reasons for your rejection.

He said they didn't even bother reading my application because my score was so low.

So I was about to ask him "then how come the range of scores are from 530 to 780?"

I was disappointed that I paid 175 dollars to not even have my application read.

Then I quickly put two and two together and realized that FEMBA takes people with GMATs that are as low as 530 because they belong to the underrepresented minority pool.

I wanted to ask Dylan if I can get a refund of the application fee but then decided that that might not be a good idea if I am re-applying.

Which I am this year and my score is much higher.

So that is the story : if you are an underrepresented minority, chances are your application will be looked at with a 580.

If you are not, please do not waste your money by applying. It will not even be looked at. LOL

Mean GMAT score for last year's acceptances was 690 I believe. Generally it has been in the mid to high 600's the last few years for UCLA.

This year, the number of applicants will be less. I anticipate the mean gmat to be lower than last year's but not much.

Before that year it was 677. Berkeley weekend and evening mba has a 700 mean.

Rumor has no source... ;)

But you can always go by members' credibility. In this case logitech is one of the greatest contributors to the forums and most importantly he's moderator at BTG so I'd not take his posts lightly.

Logitech is a good dude, no doubt.

But here is another rumor that came a little closer from the horse's mouth. I'm not saying anything about what Logitech said, just trying to add another piece to this topic.


I called into FEMBA two days ago. Their office usually has a few different people that work there. I"m not sure in what capacity this person works there who I spoke to. She could be a an admissions director, she could be a FEMBA student, she could just be a work study undergraduate.

But I asked her about the 700 rumor for the first two rounds. She said that even is such were true, that there's no way anyone would be able to verify or acknowledge that because FEMBA doesn't put together a tally of statistics for the incoming class like GMAT or GPA until after the last round decisions are made and all the acceptance deposits are also made.

Well because I can't say how knowledgeable this person is and how close she is to the admissions process, I'd say that if what Logitech were saying is true, that maybe whoever got this information basically took an average of the people who reported their stats who got into FEMBA on Bweek MBA forum.

She also said that she does know that last years average incoming GMAT was 677. 20 points seems like a big jump especially when R1's apps were 10% lower than R1 of 08. (This came from Dylan Stafford head of admissions in a presentation made this past December)

Sources of rumor were: The R2 applicants who talked to Dylan after they got accepted to the program. Dylan mentioned that the number of the applicants has dropped this year but the GMAT average went up from 690 to 700. But once again it is just an average with a standard deviation so

640---700----760 could be the range too :)

Hello Everyone,

Looking to apply Fall 2011 (deadline for R1 is November 1)

Have a 680 GMAT with 2.9 in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Attended the regional lunch with Dylan Stafford and he mentioned they would take into consideration the school and major for the low GPA.

Worked on my essays for about 2 months and feel i have a complete application

Anyhow - Likelihood of getting in to the program? Should I apply for R1 or wait for R2?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I am looking to apply to the UCLA FEMBA program for Round 2. Does anyone know how UCLA feels about Cal State grads? I got my BS in Accounting from a Cal State with a 3.3 GPA, and I plan to do well on my GMAT. Does anyone know how good of a chance I would have if any if I was in the mean range with my GMAT score? After looking at student profiles it seems that a lot of students admitted come from very prestigous schools. I am currently working doing accounting/sales analysis at an engineering company, and have been for about a year. Thank you!
