Usage of that after comma.

I have read somewhere 'That cannot be used after comma in GMAT'
Can someone clarify about this..........
If it can be used..what does that modify......subject/preceding noun....

a statement between 2 commas is considered as non-essential, and a run on that will be an essential part.

"that" generally introduces a restrictive clause and a restrictive clause never takes a "comma"...

both which and that doesnt take comma but if there are too many subordinate clauses then you might see one....
