GRE VS GMAT score

by galaxynexus09 » Mon Oct 29, 2012 3:46 am
Hi Everyone,

I'm planning to apply to some of the top schools in the US in round 2. I believe that I have a very strong profile but gmat/gre has been the problem. I have a score of 680 (m47,V36) plus 2 retakes (1 - 650 and the other canceled score since I was sick and couldnt complete it). After some research, I thought 4th attempt might be too risky so I took the GRE and scored Verbal - 158 (77%) and Math - 162 (86%). The sectional scores are better on GRE but the GRE comparison tool from ETS predicts a score of 670. What would be the better score in this case? Considering I want to apply to the top schools (harvard/kellogg/wharton), which score should i go with? Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Since you are applying to top B-school MBA programs you should go with GMAT. Also since your comparative GRE score is lower than you highest GMAT score of 680, it makes no sense to report GRE score over GMAT. Also R1 deadlines for top US B-schools are drying quickly I would advice to forget scores and start working on your B-school essays as they are the next important step in the B-school application.

Well, go with the GMAT. It's the highest. And the GRE is always a bit of a downgrade for Bschools.
