x = Bank Loan
Friends Loan= 5100 - x
y = interest
18/100 * x = y
16/100 * (5100 - x) = y
solve both simultaneously, you will get x = 2400

Well actually, I saw this question in 198 700+ GMAT Prep question. Only "square of positive integers" is written. But yeahif its has been consecutive positive integers than the answer would D.

As far as I see it, A should be the answer. For example xy= area of ceiling and xz or yz = area of wall. In both the cases we have 3 unknown variables and two equations. So B is insuff.
