@Sfrazie6, thanks for the insight! I feel better knowing there is still a chance. The waiting is the worst part of the process. I'll take a break from checking my email every 2mins and focus on preparing for the exam which I'll take in February before the deadline.

The person who I spoke to informed me that applicants will be notified for an interview for the next 3-4 weeks and decisions will be made by the end of this month through the first week of next month. Congrats to those in R1! Has anyone in R2 received a time frame on when interviews for R2 applicants will be conducted? I wonder if the request for an interview will be sent out before Christmas.
