From the given equation x + y = 32 --- eq 1 or -x -y = 32 ---- eq 2 Stmt 1 says -4x -12y = 0 or x + 3y = 0 ---- eq 3 Solving eq 1 and 3 we get x = 48 and y=-16 solving eq 2 and 3 we get x = -48 and y = 16 In both the above cases xy is same hence stmt 1 is suff. Doing the same exercise for stmt 2 giv...

Distance covered by cyclist in 5 mins = (20/60)*5 = 5/3 miles
Distance covered by hiker in 5 mins = (4/60)*5 = 1/3 miles
So the difference when cyclist stops is 4/3 miles
Time taken for the hiker to cover 4/3 miles = (4/3)/(4/60) = 20 mins.

One approach to solve this question is - total no of ways of selecting 3 people from 8 = 8C3 = 56 Now if the siblings are present in the combination then 2 places are booked and only one place is left to be filled.... 1*1*6 for each sibling pair..We have 4 pairs ...so total number of combinations in...

Well a very tricky question ..but indeed the answer is A. Here is how - I learnt from some website that the best way to solve the mod problems is to remove the mod ...i.e. square the equation so from both 1 and 2 we get the roots as 0 and 2. But if we put these values back in the given equations we ...

Well here is the ans: 1. xyz < 0 suggests only one of them is -ve. 2. xy <0 suggests x and y lies on two sides of the origin or zero. So lets draw the number line, and add both the constraints. |-----------X--------------------------0-----------Y---------------------------------| Now Z has to be pos...

There is another way to look at this problem. The box contains exactly the same number of even and odd numbered balls (50 each). Since we are replacing the ball after each pick , so the sum of the numbers of the balls picked will either be odd or even with equal possibility irrespective of the numbe...

I found this formula somewhere for finding the number of shortest paths across a grid of m*n
(m+n-2)C(m-1) or (m+n-2)C(n-1)
In ur case m = 4 n =3 ....so we get 5C2

As per the basic time work rule ....
1/A+1/B = 5/6
1/B+1/C = 2/3
1/C +1/A = 1/2
Adding the above 3 equations we get
1/A+1/B+1/C = 1
