Simple 2 step approach. No need to calculate 5 days total work or remaining work.

B's 1 day work = 1/15

Total amount for work = 720

Average (1 day work pay) = 720/15 = 48 (Ans: E)

Well i did it this way.

The remaining for Chole is 32 which is 2/3rd after the 1/3rd share of Bob

So, before the share of Bob the amount was 32 x 3/2 = 48

Bob's share = $4 + (1/3 x 48) = 16 = 20

No need of solving the equation!

In 1 hour combined work of y + Z = 1/15 + 1/18 = 11/90
Total time of y + z = 90/11 (reverse the 1 hour number to get the total time)

Ratio of X:y+z = 12:90/11 = (12 x 11)/90 = 2 x 11/15 = 22/15

Ans: D
