thanks Ian
somebody compiled a list of questions from gmatprep. Found this question in that list. OA was given as 3,6.
May be it is a typo ...'could' instead of 'must'.

divide k evenly
If k=m(m+4)(m+5) k and m are positive integers. Which of the following could divide k evenly? I.3 II.4 III.6 I think all three could divide k evenly. OA posted is 3,6 only. Not sure about the correctness of the OA.... if m=3 , 4 cud divide the expression? I would understand ans =3,6 , if question as...

DS OG #142
if x is an integer, is 9^x + 9^(-x) = b? 1) 3^x + 3(-x) = sqrt(b+2) 2) x > 0 = b I understand and can solve (1) However what is 2) In the explanation OG says that the given info is NOT SUFFICIENT. Can somenody please explain what this expression means ?? If i assume that expression means x>0 and b=0...

Need a faster way to solve this mathematically?
is x -ve?
1) x^3(1-x^2)<0
2) x^2 - 1 <0
I got the answer by considering ranges where solution will be valid.However....could not finish not 2 mins!
Anyone has a faster method ??

Hi Stuart This is question 142 from official guid 11 (DS section). Yes it is printed as x>0=b Dont have the book at this moment with me but as far as i remember, the explanation uses picking values to solve and I wanted to understand mathematically. can x>0=b be a printing mistake? (i am using editi...

absolute value and exponent
sorry missed to check that HTML box!
This is a question from OG
Is x|x| <2>= 0
scenario 2: x<0>=0
then x^2 < 2 ^x
Please help me form inequality for scenario 2.
x is an exponent and got confused if inequality sign will change....
What would be the inequality if x <0?
thanks.

DS Exponents
Is 9^x + 9^(-x) = b ? (1)x > 0 = b Is is a sufficient condition? Here is my working: putting value of b we get Is 9^x + 9^(-x) = 0 ? => 9^x + 1/9^x = 0 =>( 9^2x + 1 ) /9^x = 0 This will be true only if 9^x (is not equal to) 0 and 9^2x = -1 (this is not possible as even power cannot be -ve) and 9^x c...
