square root of a^2 = a or -a

similarly square root of (x-3)^2 = x-3 or -(x-3) [or 3-x]. Thus this eqn will not hold true for any value of x.

Hence the answer is E.

sq.root of (x-3)^2 = sq.root of (x-3)(x-3) = (x-3)

So, we can rephrase the question as :

Is (x-3) = (3-x)
=> 2x = 6
or Is x=3?

Statement 1: x not equal to 3.
Therefore Stmt. 1 is sufficient

Statement 2: -x|x|>0.
This does not tell whether x=3.

Therefore answer is A.
