Whenever the object of the verb is an idea/clause like this, it should be preceded by a THAT. However, in common English usage...

usage of 'that'

hi ,
In the following sentences.
1) She thought the puppy was cute.
2) She thought THAT the puppy was cute.

Can someone please point out when/why we use 'THAT' in such sentences?

Will usage of 'THAT' change meaning in any way ?

There are two differences between these sentences: verb tense and verb voice . 1) WAS CHANGED is in the simple past tense, passive voice . The simple past tense tells us that it was a single completed action in the past. Even though this happened before the "dropped," we don't need to use...

Hi,
There are 2 sentenced below

1) After the test format WAS changed, scores dropped by more than 25%.

Both sentences seem grammatically right. Could someone explain the difference in meaning ?

Thanks !

Answer should be D

It has the phrase 'of using' which is parallel with 'of having' in the question

E has the same parallel phrase ' of using' but wrong because the phrase 'as they obtained' is meaningless .
