If n is an integer, rosenjon's explaination would hold. The answer would be A. But since n is not given to be an integer, per Gsaxton's reasoning, (1) alone is not sufficient. (2) alone is not sufficient along the same lines. But (1) and (2) taken together, are sufficient. Because if both 5n/18 and ...

Two methods to calculate total average speed

In problems that ask you to calculate total average speed, given the speed for onward and return trip, you could apply a formula or a neat trick to get to the answer faster. Lets derive the genral formula first and see how it applies it to couple of examples. Say, a car travels at S1 mph on a trip a...

To find the overall percentage change in A+B, we can apply the following formula: Total % change = [% change in A * proportion of A in (A+B)] + [% change in B * proportion of B in (A+B)] For example: Consider the following prob...

Are intructions interspersed with questions on real GMAT?

I have taken a few exams now including MGMAT, GMATPrep, PowerPrep, 800score and Veritas. In atleast some of them (not sure if all) the instructions were interspersed with the questions. That is, on one test, I saw instructions about SC followed by 3 SC questions. Then I got instructions on CR with 2...

I don't want to cause confusion but just to emphasize that you need to pay careful attention to the overlaps, consider the following example: Question: Workers are grouped by their areas of expertise, and are placed on at least one team. 20 are on the marketing team, 30 are on the sales team, and 40...

Not that I would fret if I get "only" 760 instead of a 770 after scoring v46/q49 :). But can someone explain the following anamoly just for my curiosity? The following is the data gathered from posts on this forum: Total score 760 with raw score of V46/Q49 (total raw: 95, avg 47.5) Total s...

(17)^2*(13)^4*(29)*3

Units digit of the product = the product of all digits in units place

Units place of 17^2 = 7*7 = 4(9)
Units place of 13^4 = 3*3*3*3 = 8(1)
Units place of 29*3 = 9*3 = 2(7)

Therefore, units digit of the product = 9*1*7 = 6(3)
Answer = 3
