Moderators can we have this thread as another sticky one ?? Mgross, you got an AWA score which is good enough. Don't loose sleep over this as you have a strong gmat score. IMO taking a re-take just for improving AWA score from 4.5 is not a great idea. However you can always opt for a re-score if you...

Please place a complaint with GAMC if you have not already. This is no fault of yours and you should not bear the brunt. Why should you suffer if some stupid computer chose to misbehave.
I sincerely hope that GMAC will rule in your favour, pull your socks for a re-take. All the best.

Should be D
the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not.
We need to know whether the area to which insecticides were applied was comparable. D does just that.

Congrats on a great score. But I am not sure what were you trying to prove. You got nothing to give to the forum and neither is your story any inspiration to anyone. And to top it all you are not even satisfied with your score. I guess you are not seeking any advice as well. So there is no point in ...

take x =1 y = -2 then (x-y)/(x+y) == 3/(-1) < 1 but if x =10 and y =-2 then (x-y)/(x+y) = 12/8 >1 hence insufficient. answer is E. what is OA? it can't be anything other than 'E'. if x>0 and y<0, x-y will always be positive. now x+y can be positive or negative. When x+y is positive the expression i...

you are correct about '1'. Its gives us the asnwer. so eliminate BCE and we are left with AD consider '2'. t^2 divided by 7 gives remainder 1 that means 't' will be of the form 7a+1 or 7a-1 7a-1 can also be written as 7b+6 7a+1 and 7b+6 when substituted in '2' give different answers. So B is not suf...

I think the problem here is not with singular and plural but with tenses!!! "Common knowlege tells us that......." will required to be supported by a simple present tense which is available only in the correct option. Hence it is the correct answer. Indeed the concept being discussed rela...

More than often 'of' is just a middle man and we should be beware of 'of'.
And as pointed out by stacey it suggests the starting of a prepositional phrase.
Only for pronouns Some, any, none, all, most the 'of' construction decides the verb number.

it should be D B and C can be ruled out for the use of wrong verb from 'encountered' or 'had encountered'. A can be ruled out for the use of 'whose' which seems to qualify 'shallows' rather than crocodiles themselves. Between D and E, D is a better choice. The relative pronoun 'that' in E is uncalle...

I read somewhere that, When two or more singular nouns or pronouns suggest one idea to the mind, or refer to the same person or thing, the verb is singular. eg: Bread and butter is his only food. I guess the same rule applies here as well. 'sensible exercise and proper diet' will therefore take a si...
