Statement 1: This means either x = y = z or y lies between x and z.
So, either x = y = z or x < y < z or x > y > z
So, statement 1 is not sufficient.
Statement 2: Clearly not sufficient.
Both statements together: Now it is not possible that x = y = z or x > y > z.
So, x < y < z
So, both statements together is sufficient.
