Not confident but this is what I understood

we need a sentence which says ...

than BY WOMEN who were under thirty YEARS OLD.

were is correct usage, eliminate A and C

those refers to womean
and it refers to age.

So E

Well no one has posted the OA yet, and u said im rite :shock:

nehw got simple resoning for this one, the stem question + all options seemed oddly constructed so between A and E I went with the option I felt had the least error :lol:

Is OA A?

I feel A compares women to age .. which is illogical

in E, we see the comparision between women over 30 years of age and women under 30 years of age (it)


correct me if i am wrong

I didnt get this...sentence is in present tense and E has "were"..

none of the options SOUND right :), but to choose one of them, I will go with A as well.. "it" would replace "thirty", the age, so comparing "over thirty years old" and "under thirty years old" => "under it". What is the OA?

mannnnnn!!! the more i do gmat the more confusion am getting into apart from the benefits..

tell me a thing:

in the setence 'In 1990’s, there are more babies born by women over thirty years old than under it.' the idiom used is more.. than the part after more and the part after than needs to be parallel.. aight?? please let me know :cry: anyone can respond.. :)

the reason E was wrong was because "than those were under it" here if those were to refer to the women it should have said "than by those under it" by would be required for parellelism.
were is also not required here.
