Hi David,
I'm not sure what you're asking about the SC question you quoted:
Simply being genetically engineered does not make a plant any more likely to become an invasive or persistent weed, according to a decade-long study published in the journal Nature.
What is the noun to verb you are wondering about?
In general, it's much more common to make verbs into nouns, for example by adding suffixes (for example, take the verb "run" and ad the suffix "er" and you have the noun "runner").
