Need Advice

by zayneb » Tue May 27, 2008 11:53 am
Hi everyone, I took the GMAT twice, and got 430 and 470. I need a 600 in order to get into the MBA program I'm applying for. I'm very desperate, I don't know what to do anymore, I'm almost thinking about giving up the MBA. Iam giving myself one last chance, and I will be taking the GMAT again in the 3rd week of june.
Do you guys think I can make it this time? Is there any way I can improe my score that much in just 3 weeks?
I need your advice.
Thanks everyone

Hey Zayneb,

I think it is possible, and so you might as well just go for it! After all, you're already signed up. I have seen students drastically improve their scores after just two weekends with me, so I know dramatic improvement is possible in a short time.

I think the first thing you need to do is take a practice test to see what types of questions you are missing, and of what difficulty level. You need to troubleshoot what is going wrong. Are you just missing all of the RC questions? Or do you miss questions pretty equally once they get in the 500+ range of difficulty? This type of info will help you target your studying better.

Once you figure out what you need to study, I recommend getting materials or lessons that will teach you strategies for tackling those types of problems. With so little time for each problem, the tricks really help speed things up. They also help you stay calm (you have a plan for each problem!) and help you organize your thoughts better.

Above all, believe in yourself and don't stress too much!

Hey .. I also have the same problem .. i took the GMAT test on 5th June and I got around 300 and i need about 500 to get admission. I am planning to take it on mid july..Pls anybody could help me on preparing it and how many hours should i devote in studying and how to study it because i am also taking two summer courses. If anybody out there just could guide me and tell me how to prepare for it. I know the basics its just the problems and putting them in mathematical equation. If anybody could guide me I would be highly appreciated

If you need to raise the score 130 points, I would hold off on retaking, and take a prep course or get a tutor. It's unlikely you're going to get there on your own in less than a month after two scores in the 400s.
