ISB profile Check

by Knightaider » Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:04 am
Hi,

My queries and concerns are pretty much the same as others on this forum. I would like to get my candidature evaluated for ISB 2012.

My profile goes like this :

Undergrad - IIT CGPA (7.8)
10th - 82%
12th - 90%

GMAT - 730 AWA 4.5

Currently I have more than 2 years of work experience and by april 2012 i would be having nearly 2 years and 9 months of experience.

I have been working at as Senior business analyst at a business analytic's firm. I performance has been fairly good and has been highly recognized in my organization. I also received some awards recognizing the same.

Worked for a start up for more than a year before during my graduation days.

Extra curricular: Moderate amount of extra curricular activities. Won couple of quizzes at state level during schooling. Organized events during the college. Also part of the company CSR.

What my real concerns, what chances do i stand for this year's candidature for ISB and if the chances are moderate. How can i enhance my profile.

Many thanks in advance

Well, looking at your numbers I would say your chances are pretty good. You have the numbers which show excellence. And that's important. The key now is to stand out. And that you will only be able to do with really strong essays. So make those stories amazing, and get yourself an admit!

Hi Knightaider,

On the academic front, based on the numbers you are just above average, but the IIT tag will give you a slight edge. You have analytics background so that is another addition to your academic and analytical skills scale.

Your work experience is less than average in terms of number of years. But being in analytics, you can focus on highly analytical nature of your job and relate it to your performance and career progression. In addition, you need to balance it out with the leadership skills and decision making you have demonstrated at work.

You have not mentioned your career goals. If they are tied in coherently with your work experience, it will be a big plus as you can show a clear career path combined with your MBA.

For ISB, per se, apart from the number of years of experience, your profile is strong and there is no harm in taking a shot.

Your GMAT score is about average for ISB (which weighs GMAT more heavily) but the quality of your undergraduate institution (IIT) will factor strongly in your favor.
