GMAT Prep vs Kaplan Clarification needed.

by rohit_667 » Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:23 pm
Dear folks,

I have my GMAT scheduled next week. Over the past two months, I have been preparing from OG 11,12 and other resources mentioned in BTG forum. As for my practice tests, I have taken couple of tests from GMAT Prep and Kaplan. Although I have a consistent score of about 45-47 in Quant, my Verbal scores are pretty messy in GMAT Prep than compared to Kaplan ones.

In GMAT Prep, my Verbal scores fall in range of 29-32, whereas in Kaplan I can easily take my score upto 36-38. Now I am very confused. I am not able to comprehend this discrepancy. GMAT Prep indicates my verbal is bad, but Kaplan says its pretty neat and can be stretched to get 40+.

Can someone please help me out?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Rohit

Usually it is the other way round.

Are you seeing questions repeated in Kaplan?
I urge you to analyze your test performances for your errors. See why you made them. That will give you a clear indication of what's going wrong.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

Hey Vineesh,

Thanks for replying back. Well, couple of questions do get repeated, but I feel verbal questions in Kaplan are better structured than those of GMAT Prep. I am getting a feeling that weirdly GMAT Prep is throwing random verbal questions at me with no proper level advancements, but Kaplan starts with easy stuff and then proceeds to advanced. I may be wrong, but that's my perception. There are times I feel I shouldn't have touched GMAT Prep.

Anyways, I plan not to mess up in actual GMAT. Hope all ends well.

Thanks again,

Rohit

Unfortunately, GMAT questions will come in GMAT Prep style and not in Kaplan style (if u think Kaplan is better).
