First of all I'm assuming that I'll be able to take the GMAT on October 31, and then again on November 13, since those fall on two separate calendar months and I've taken it only once before in my life, this past September. I haven't re-registered yet.
My way of being great at something is to live, breathe and do it for as long as possible and as many times as possible. I need to take the GMAT by November 15th in order to be considered for round 3 at UVA McIntire School of Commerce M.S. in Information Technology Management. I had a bit of panic-stricken stage fright in my September attempt at the GMAT, getting a 530 / Q:41 and V:21... did bad on the quant and completely bombed the verbal. I know I can do significantly better in both sections, and have been preparing since. Going back to my philosophy of doing something over and over to be great at it, I'm thinking of taking the real thing again first just as a practice run, probably even keep my score. I think that will take the edge off my third attempt at it. I can't say that I'm hurting for money right now so the $250 sounds like a good investment.
I was wondering if this is common? Has anyone gone in to take the GMAT just to get practice at the real thing? Most likely you would cancel your score afterward though. It makes sense to me, but I'm open other ideas. I realize if I don't cancel my scores right after the "practice" attempt, the university will see it in the official score report for subsequent tsts, but does that really matter?
In any case, I already got accepted into Georgetown's equivalent of the program (M.P.S. in Technology Management), as well as George Mason. If not UVA that Georgetown it is!
