Math Practice

There are less than 4 weeks left before my test date. For my complete preparation I have relied only on OG and Kaplan and not used any other resources. Now with such a short time left I feel I am not very confident about my quant and feel I need more practice.

Just can't decide whether it makes any sense to buy another book specifically targeted at Math and if yes, which one??? With so many choices available, I am unable to choose and with every passing day I seem to become more confused, anxious and nervous! Not a good sign I guess.

Would be grateful if someone could guide me. Thank you!

If you've only relied on Kaplan and the OG, you're going to be in for a surprise on test day. Kaplan's tests do not mimic the real test at all. You MUST take the official GMATPrep tests! And if you want more practice after that, take the Princeton Review tests. They are adaptive like the real thing (Kaplan is not) and the questions are much more realistic.

Kaplan is supposed to be good for quant review, but you can also buy the official quant practice book too.

Spence, thank you for your reply! Yes, I realise that I ought to have taken the official GMATPrep tests by now. Anyway, will do so as soon as I can. Guess that'll give me a clearer idea of where I'm still lacking and where I need to focus and whether I need to buy the official quant practice book for additional practice.

I took the GMATPrep Test now and got a 510. Very disappointing :( I was unable to complete many questions in quant and about 4 questions in verbal within the required time. So now I need to increase my speed and wondering how to do this considering that I have such a short time left before my actual test. I need atleast a 650. Is it possible to achieve this score considering that my basic problem is speed and timing? I have less than 4 weeks.

Also when I see the clock ticking I am unable to think clearly and concentrate and as the time goes on I start to panic more and more and then it's disaster! Don't know what to do. Can someone please advise me what to do???

Took the Princeton Review test today and scored a 630. Very disappointed and think I will need to postpone my test by at least a month. Otherwise I don't see myself scoring too well. Of course, it would be tough to manage the cost of re-scheduling but better than the cost of repeating after doing poorly the first time.

What really frustrates me is that I am unable to increase my speed. I specifically face this problem in the quant section. Well, I am going to practice really hard the next days and focus all my energy on finishing each question under 2 min. Hope I see more improvement in my score soon.

Anyway, I have been reading posts from other people and it's somehow comforting to know that there are others in the same boat, struggling with the gmat and so determined to beat it! Good luck to you all :)
