First GMAT Mock test - Scored a 600 ...

Hi ,

I took my first GMAT mock test yesterday. I used the GMATPREP software and scored a 600 ( Q36, V36). I bombed the quant section in data sufficiency and all questions that were wrong in Quant were from DS.
Also had a few questions wrong in RC. I know the reason why these specific areas are weak. I have not yet fully revised the core concepts having spent only 20 days studying so far.

I have a target score of 740 and have about 2 months from now till test day. is it possible to progress this much in 2 months? Or should I consider rescheduling by test date?

If yes what strategies should I be following to maximize the results from my prep.

Hi Soumya,

600 is a great baseline score, and a 140-point increase in 2 months is definitely possible. You can reschedule your test up to 1 week before your test, so you don't need to make any rescheduling decisions just yet. I typically suggest that students achieve their target score on at least 2 practices tests before they take the official test.

I should point out that everyone struggles with Data Sufficiency (DS) questions at first. This question type is totally unique to the GMAT, so it's foreign territory. Once you become more familiar with this question type, you should expect a significant score increase.
