Local residents claim that San Antonio,Texas has more good Mexican American restaurants than any city does in the united states.

(A) Any city does
(B) Does any other city
(C) other cities do
(D) any city
(E) other cities

none other than B bwcause we are comparing Texas with other city and we require does in front.

option A changes the meaning and moreover it says "any city" means texas is also included again

C wrong because plural cities
D &E wrong comparison

plus, 'any other city' is important, the second element should not include the subject

When your subject is part of the class, you have to use "other". When it is not part of the class, you can simply use "any". For example:

Mickey Mouse is funnier than any other cartoon character.
NOT - Mickey Mouse is funnier than any cartoon character.

In the latter sentence, Mickey Mouse would have to be funnier than himself.

However, you can say Mickey Mouse is funnier than my brother. (Assuming he is not my brother.)
