the cats

Descending approximately 4,000 years ago from the African wildcat, it has been an exceedingly short time for the domestic cat with respect to genetic evolution and it scarcely seems sufficient to allow the marked physical changes that transformed the animal.

Is "evolution" scarcely sufficient or is "short time/4k years" scarcely sufficient? Thinking latter I picked B

in D changes and transformed seem redundant
in B it is dangling referent if you pay attention to Descending ... African wildcat
E is wordy to me and incorrect
so I would say C as
Modifier "Descending from the African wildcat approximately 4,000 years ago" correctly modifies the domestic cat and rest stuff is fine enough in this choice

Correct me if I'm wrong

prob with B

I think with B there is one more problem "which is an exceedingly short time"
the cat descended 4000 years ago so "is" would be wrong tense I believe

My answer choice is D due to the following:

Having descended from the African wildcat approximately 4,000 years ago, the domestic cat has had an exceedingly short time for its genetic evolution that has scarcely been sufficient for the marked physical changes that transformed the animal.

What is the OA?

One problem I see with 'B" is parallelism is not maintained.
A) Modifier subject problem
B) Parallelism . which is an … and scarcely
it should be which is ... and which ...
C) use of “and” it seems to imply the domestic cat has been scarcely sufficient…
D) its genetic evolution that has scarcely been
seems to imply genetic evolution is not sufficient while it should be time is not not sufficient.
E) Correct
