B - not only on ... but also - on missing
C - same as above
D - number of questions answered - correctly is missing and changes the meaning
E - on not only X ... but also on Y - not parallel

IMO A.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

In that case, both A and D would be correct in meaning and grammar, something GMAC would never do.

Yes, D is not preferred for the sole reason of missing the word "correctly"

Yes the OA is correctly given as A. It was between A and D but D misses out on an important meaning and hence is the wrong answer.

A is parallel and delivers the intended meaning unambigiously.
