The positivity effect refers to the tendency for people to attribute the positive behavior of other people whom they like (to their disposition, they attribute) negative behavior to their situation.


A. to their disposition, they attribute
B. to their disposition, while attributing
C. as a result of their disposition, while attributing
D. as a result of their disposition, they attribute
E. to their disposition, while they tend to attribute

Answer is B

attribute X to Y - thats the correct idiom

So C and D are wrong

A) the second clause " they tend to......" is an independant clause and does not fir itself to explain the 'tendency'
B) idiom is used correct. second clause 'attributing ......" modifies the tendency as required. Correct

E) the second clause does not modify the 'tendency'

hence ans B.
