In an attempt to guarantee the security of its innovative water purification method, the company required each employee to sign a confidentiality agreement prohibiting that its water purification methods be disclosed to companies using an analogous purification process.

A. prohibiting that its water purification methods be disclosed to companies
B. prohibiting them from the disclosing of its water purification methods to any company
C. prohibiting disclosure of its water purification methods to any company
D. that would prohibit them from disclosure of its water purification methods to companies

My answer is D. Idiom => Prohibit X from Y

A)
B) disclosing of its - wordy and whole sentence is awkward
C) if we need to use prohibiting, it should be used as adverbial modifier and should have comma,
D) that correctly refers to agreement prohibit X (employees) from Y (discloye of its ..) and them clearly refres to employees

I have my doubts on D

'that would prohibit them.....' --> them cannot refer to 'each employee, which is singular.

I'm going with C on this one. I don't really have an explanation other than it's the one that sounds the most correct to me.

On D ("that would prohibit them from disclosure of its water purification methods to companies") I feel that there should be a "the" in front of "disclosure" for it to be correct, or change "disclosure" to "disclosing" and get rid of "of."

I go with C on this one.

D cant be right , as it is 'each employee' while the corrected part reads
"that would prohibit them from", each employee and them, is wrong SV agreement.

your thoughts on this.

It's C.

A -- 'prohibiting that' is problematic and 'be disclosed' is passive. ot the best choice.

B -- 'the disclosing of' is awkward and incorrect.

C -- this one is correct. This is another way to phrase prohibiting besides "prohibit X from Y"

D-- 'that would prohibit' is the wrong tense. 'That prohibits' would have been more correct.

E -- same as D and 'that would be disclosed' is passive

In the sentence below is from disclosure correct? I eleminated D because I felt that was incorrect. Would appreciate your inputs.

that would prohibit them from disclosure of its water purification methods to companies

The sentence below would be correct, but 'disclosure' should be 'disclosing'. The convention is usually prohibit X from Y-ing. So it should be "that would prohibit them from disclosing its water purification methods to companies."

Option A.
This option is not correct as it does not truly express the mind of the writer. The aim was to stop the employee from disclosing the water purification methods out. But this option tends to state otherwise.

Option B.
'prohibiting them from the disclosing' this is where the problem lies in this option. It could have been further restructured.

Option C.
This is the correct answer as it is well constructed and follows proper parallelism. Not too wordy and simply arranged.

Option D.
'that would prohibit them' this can be better rephrased to make better meaning.This option is incorrect.

Option E.
This option suffers the same fate as D above.
