D is wordy.

Between A, B & C

I think "that" is required.

airline executives are convinced that...many travelers will still use travel agents.

IMO A.

D is wrong since it means that no.of online plane tickets is growing rather than the people....

Hope this makes sense

D and E look wordy "the fact that the..."
The orignial sentence is short and correclty written. I think the correct answer is A.

Also the idiom is prefer x to Y , the word 'compared to/with ' is redundant

IMO A ..

Will over Would --the sentence talks about the executives being convinced --hence chose will as it's more assertive.

Options C - D have purchasing --IMO 'ing form of verb is not required here.

E --the number..are--mistake.
