twice or two times?

hi,
I came to a SC problem asking to choose wether 1 "twice or three times" or 2 "two or three times". I do understand that twice is better than two times, but if "three times" is followed, which answer is better?

Where did you find the problem? Could you post the entirety of the question and mention the source? The difference between the two is not inconsequential, but it depends on what you want to emphasize.
