I am between C and E.

Awarded with is unidiomatic, so eliminate A, B.

D - award for longoverdue recognition - they were awarded for bravery, not for recognition

Agian as usual confused between A and c

Rest choices can be ignored as they they contain for or In longoverdue

A is lengthy but not incorrect ( unless with awarded is wrong idiom which i am not sure of )

I would go with C

Hello Friends,
As it is quiet clear that Awarded with is Unidiomatic

So we are left with C, D and E

Now D is incorrect
d. the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award for longoverdue

Award was not for long overdue

Changes the complete meaning


Confusion between C and E


Check E
E.. the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award, in longoverdue


Put this back in original Sentence

How does the sentence looks:especially in longoverdue!!

I think in the original sentence it's overdue in Recognition

and in E it is in longoverdue

I believe both have different meanings

So I will go with C

award, and which was long overdue in ....use of which twice is wordy and redundant
B. with the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award for ....awarded 'with' seems to be unidiomatic
long-overdue
C. the Congressional Medal of Honor, which was the nation’s highest military
award, long-overdue in ..... awarded the "Congressional Medal of Honor " ..which corectly describes about it, and longoverdue in recognition of is correct usage
D. the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award for longoverdue ...for longoverdue is wrong usage
E. the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award, in longoverdue ...which is required to describe about the Medal of honor.

So my answer would be C

Looked over the question again. E is the best answer.

E...awarded medals...in longoverdue recognition - meaning that medals are the recognition. lonoverdue modifies recognition.

C...awarded medals... longoverdue in recognition - meaning that medals were londoverdue, which does not make sense.

IMO C.

You might be correct, but "which was the nation’s highest military
award" clearly qualifies the medal. Hence, I would still like to go for C.

OA is E.
In fact,

1. awarded with is incorrect and so we are down to c,d,e;
2. in long-overdue recognition is the correct way to express the idea here, and not "long-overdue in". The long-overdue refers to recognition and not to medal.

Here is the answer. In fact this was taken from a post that appeared ealier in this blog.

The question reads roughly like this:
Recently, X soldiers were awarded with the medal Y, which was nation's
highest military award, and which was long overdue in recognition of their outstanding bravery.

Mistakes:
awarded with - unidiomatic
long overdue in recognition of - awkward

Correct:
X soldiers were awarded the medal Y
recognition which was longoverdue
or
late recognition
or
longoverdue recognition

Fitting these corrected forms in the bigger sentence reads roughly as:
Recently, X soldiers were awarded the medal Y in (longoverdue) recognition of their outstanding bravery.

Note:
"which was nation's highest military award" is the modifying phrae and is optional.

Combining the peices, we have
Recently, X soldiers were awarded the medal Y, the nation's highest military award, in longoverdue recognition of their outstanding bravery.

Correct answer is E.
