Quasars are so distant that their light has taken billions of years to reach the Earth; consequently, we see them as they were during the formation of the universe.

A we see them as they were during
B we see them as they had been during
C we see them as if during
D they appear to us as they did in
E they appear to us as though in

Ans is A

I see that C and E are completely out.

d and E are out because they have the ambiogus THEY and you dont know if it refers to years of quasars. C is awkward. you are left with a and b. ntohing in the sentence shows that the quasars tok place before another past event. Therefore you cant pck B with justification. A is better.

I think that most of us still do not know how to identify pronoun errors. IMO, they can never refer to YEARS in this question.

Erin from Test Magic explains this question as below:
This is a classic "meaning" question.

The point here is that we need to make sure that we are talking about seeing the quasars as the quasars were at that time, NOT seeing the quasars in the way that people back then saw them.

If we choose A, the meaning is clear; the other deceptive answer is C, but C means we see them using the same techniques that people back then used.

Some people might choose D; this answer means that we were alive then, and we are alive now; the quasars look the same to us both then and now.

Did I explain clearly??
