READING original sentence gives sufficient clue:

process that eventually led the Haloid Company (THC) in 1959 to produce its first plain paper photocopier and change its name to "the Xerox Corporation"

PROCESS led THC to PRODUCE ITS...AND CHANGE ITS...

Parts in bold are (X AND Y) the result of PROCESS and should be parallel. The non-underlined part, Y start with CHANGE...and so X should start have PRODUCE.

Therefore correct sentence will contain "to produce its...and ...". Drop B/E

The opening modifier "Laid off from the patent office during the Great Depression at the age of 27" should modify CHESTER CARLSON", not DEVELOPMENT (as in C) and THE PRINCIPLES (as in D). Drop C/D
