Confused...Help!!

A. Same
B. so therefore the investigators were not capable of determining the possible extent of
C. therefore the investigators were unable to determine the possible extent of
D. the investigators were not capable of determining the possible extent of
E. the investigators were unable to determine the extent of possible

Torn between D and E. Help plz

i will go with c. because......therefore
d -- 'not capable of determining' is wordy....c's 'unable to determine' is short and meaningful.
e -- 'unable to determine the extent of possible' does not make sense.
Please let me know the answer.

So & THEREFORE - Redundant
C. therefore the investigators were unable to determine the possible extent of
Change in the meaning
D. the investigators were not capable of determining the possible extent of
NOT CAPABLE OF - can be succintly written as UNABLE TO
E. the investigators were unable to determine the extent of possible
UNABLE is the correct word.
