Though the law will require emissions testing of all diesel vehicles, from tractor trailers to excursion buses, it will have no effect on sport utility vehicles, almost all of which are gasoline powered, and will not be subjected to emissions-control standards as stringent as they are for diesel-powered vehicles.

b)"of" at the end??
C) this is what i am talkin about
d)"which"??
e)"of"?

edit:ok now I see that in C the idiom is not as..for..
I eliminated B because of "of" B looks best here but is
"of" correct here??

Recheck the answer options, did not you made a mistake in answer C? There should be the second "as"

I actually think E is the best fit.

Initially eliminated B based on "subject vs. subjected"

If you use a transition expression such as therefore in the secong half of a sentence,make sure to use a semi colon

The toss is between B and E. I chose E because..
"they" correctly refers back to sports vehicle as its antecendant and uses "those of" as the correct parallel construct to compare the emisson standards of utility vehicles.

B is wrong as it uses wrong parallelism marker ..it uses "that are" ...as "those of" ..it should have been that are ..as that of .

Hi Ron

Could you shed some light on choice B? which part is wrong and which part is OK, compared to choice C?

1.Is" be subjected to" right in meaning? what's the difference in meaning between this phrase and"be subject to"?

2.any difference in meaning between"standard for" and "standard of"? is the latter one wrong or just inappropirate in this sentence?

3. is it straight wrong here to put a comma before "and therefore"?

But as conjunction when used for comparison must be followed by a clause .there is no subject or verb
