far fewer than!

by gmat_perfect » Tue Aug 17, 2010 10:44 am
I was writing a sentence to my friend, but I was in confusion whether it is right or not.

I have thought the sentence in the following two ways:

1. I have 300 books, far fewer than Karim.

2. I have 300 books, far fewer than those of Karim.

Which one of the sentences would be right?

Experts, please explain.

Thanks.

I think for 1 to be correct, you have to make Karim into a possessive, Karim's.
