OG 12 question no 131:

by [email protected] » Tue Jun 12, 2012 8:39 pm
Over 75 percent of the energy produced in France derives from nuclear power, while in Germany it is just over 33 percent.

A] while in Germany it is just over 33 percent.

B] compared to Germany, which uses just over 33 percent.

C] whereas nuclear power accounts for just over 33 percent of the energy produced in Germany.

D] whereas just over 33 percent of the energy comes from nuclear power in Germany.

E] compared with the energy from nuclear power in Germany, where it is just over 33 percent.
The correct answer is C>
I initially did not get the answer correct, but I was very much confused between, options C and D.
But if you read the sentence minutely, then you will find that, there is a meaning clarity or
meaning difference between the two options.

Option D: somewhere means that somewhere energy produced in France comes from 33% of nuclear power from Germany.

Option C means and infers the correct comparison between the 2 countries.

Hope I am correct on this...
