Three out of every four automobile owners in the United States also own a bicycle.

(A) Three out of every four automobile owners in the United States also own a bicycle.
(B) Out of every four, three automobile owners in the United States also owns a bicycle.
(C) Bicycles are owned by three out of every four owners of automobiles in the United States.
(D) In the United States, three out of every four automobile owners owns bicycles.
(E) Out of every four owners of automobiles in the United States, bicycles are also owned by three.


Can someone explain the difference in sentence construction between A and D? D seems correct as well ..

I think D is correct because in choice A, it says "also."

I think this is redundant since the sentence tells you that the automobiles owners own a bicycle (we already know that they also own a bicycle, so it is not necessary to say "also")

It should be A. becoz in D ...SV prob..Owns....and Subject is Three out...
So, it should be Plural verb.
Gramatically, A is correct.

"three out of four owners" is a singular subject that needs a singular verb.

It has got to be A... We need 'own' and not 'owns'...

D violates the subject verb agreement - three out of every four(plural)...owns(singular verb)
