Of the twin supernovas, the most recently discovered is the largest, but it is the small one that has irrevocably altered astronomists' ideas about the origins of the universe.

(A) the most recently discovered is the largest, but it is the small one
(B) the one most recently discovered is the largest, but it is the small one
(C) the most recently discovered is larger, but it is the smaller
(D) the more recently discovered one is the large one but the small one
(E) the more recently discovered is the larger, but it is the smaller one

My answer is E. What is the OA?

Regards
Mankey

You are doing a comparision between the two stars. we normally say
X is larger than Y. We never say X is largest than Y. Eliminate option A and B.

Simiarly we say:- X is smaller than Y. Eliminate D.

Also The adverb MOST RECENTLY has 1 sense:

1. more recently than any other time

The 2 supernovas are recently discovered. X is more recently discovered than Y
IMO E

Why do you post questions and ask for the OA? you should supply the OA or explain what you don't understand the OA provided
