very confused by "having"

Hi,

I'm generally fine with verb tense, but I always get stumped by "having" and past participle, I wonder if there is a good study guide/source for this? I'm currently using MGMAT SC book, which doesn't cover "having" a lot.

I found this on the website, please let me know if it is right on clarifying the issue:

Experts say that the gmat doesnt like the Having + perfect participle construction

That site is definitely correct in its explanation of the sequence of tenses, and it is true that the GMAT prefers that you avoid many common (and grammatically-correct, but wordy) constructions with -ing.
