As well as?

by mankey » Mon Sep 19, 2011 8:37 pm
Dear All

Will appreciate if someone can help me on this:

"polygamy is common for Christians here as well as Muslims"

or

"polygamy is common for Christians here as well as for Muslims"

Which one out of the two is correct? Please explain.

Thanks
Mankey

Can we please get some reasoning/logic behind answering this? This could be encountered at the time of SC, so better lets clarify it here itself.

Regards

first of all, "here" is not in its place before 'as well as'
secondly, to me the sentence 2 makes more sense... i do not have any idea whether we can use prepositional phrase after 'as well as' but regarding parallelism, before and after of "as well as" we need to follow a parallel structure
Polygmay is common for Christians as well as for Muslims here

I agree with cans:-->

1- For is expected to follw parallelism.
2- Respects th rules for As well as
