just getting started and feeling daunted

Hi - At the age of 40 - so that would mean the last time i did any math was 19 years ago! - I have decided to enrol in an EMBA and need to do the dreaded GMAT. I was a poor maths student 19 years ago so the not sure i can do this .
What has changed is that I am pretty focused in putting in the hours and the studying.
Can anyone give me a brief outline what books to use , considering the above details and has anyone who has also never had a mathematical brain or aptitude , cracked the GMAT ?- I am looking to get a 650 -670 score.

To begin your studies, I would recommend beginning with either Kaplan premier or Princeton Review. After you go through one of these guides in its entirety, I would recommend evaluating your weaknesses. If you have math weaknesses, purchase the Manhattan GMAT math guide that corresponds with that weakness. If you have difficulties with Critical Reasoning, I would recommend buying the PowerScore Critical Reasoning Bible. Regardless of how well you do on the Sentence Correction, I would suggests that you buy the Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction Guide. All in all, I would say give yourself at least 3 months to study for it. If you go through all of the material I suggested, you probably will get above a 600. To get your 650, just analyze the question types you get wrong and make sure you master as many of those areas as possible.. Good luck

It looks like you have a plate full of hard work ahead of you! :-)

The key is to have a well laid-out game plan and go through a rigorous process by taking practice tests often and marking your progress.

I would look into very personalized courses for your GMAT prep. Based on your current skill set and age, I personally don't feel a classroom learning environment will benefit you very much. You will need specialized help and either a personal tutor or a online program might be the best way to go.

Either way, do your research and ask alot of questions!
