Let 3x = A
x = B
3x/2 = C

2500 - 300 = 2200

3x + x + 3x/2 = 2200

4x + 3x/2 = 2200

Multiply both sides by 2

8x + 3x = 4400
11x = 4400
x=4400/11=400

C = 3(400)/2 = 1200/2 = 600

Since 300 people abstained, the number who voted was 2500-300 = 2200.

We could plug in the answers, which would represent the number who voted for C.

Answer choice: C = 600.

Since twice as many voted for A, A = 1200.
Since 3 times as many voted for A as for B, B = 1200/3 = 400.
A + B + C = 1200 + 400 + 600 = 2200. Success!

The correct answer is 600.
