Statement 1 :-Insufficient since cube root of all integers are not integers.
Statement 2:-Insufficient since 1 = 3 x 1/3 is an integer.

Considering both,we get the ans.

(1) is insufficient because y could be a cube root

(2) is insufficient because y could be 1/3

combined we know that y is not a cube root and that y is not a fraction. Choose C
